2012 Walleye Stocking

2010 Walleye Stocking
On a Sunday in December we stocked 370 lbs of fingerlings! They averaged about 10 fish per lb or 3,700 fish!

At a cost of $10.00 per pound this comes to $3,700. $2,000 was paid by LLA and a 70% match of $1,700 from the Viking Sportsmen who received funds from club fundraisers, as well as donations from the Alex Hospitality Assoc, Tastefully Simple, Douglas Machine, and others that were earmarked specifically for the fish stocking program in Douglas County.

2009 Walleye Stocking

On Saturday December 19, 2009 the LLA stocked Lobster Lake with walleyes fingerlings at the public access. John Stone reports that the stocking went very well.

2008 Walleye Stocking

On Saturday December 13, 2008 the LLA stocked Lobster Lake with 600 pounds of walleyes.

400 pounds were paid for out of the LLA walleye stocking fund, member dues and 200 pounds were paid for with money from the Alexandria Hospitality Funds. A total of 22,200 four-six inch walleyes were stocked.

The walleyes arrived with great support from LLA and the Viking Sportsman, along with new matching funds from the Alexandria Hospitality Association.

Some people might wonder who the Alexandria Hospitality Association is. When people stay in Alexandria motels they pay a motel tax that must be spent promoting the area’s tourist industries. What a great way to promote Alexandria; to have people come to Alexandria and fish walleyes. This organization provided $2,000.00 in matching funds for the purchase of walleye fingerlings.

We look forward to seeing you on the ice this year, and as always we will be looking for more walleye fund donations for 2010. Thanks for all your past support.

2007 Walleye Stocking

In 2007 the DNR stocked 1300 pounds of walleyes, that’s the good news. The bad news is this was only about 900 fish because the size of each fish was one pound to one and one half pounds. Early reports have been good with fisherman often getting their limit.

2006 Walleye Stocking

On Saturday, December 9, 2006, Bosek Fisheries put 400 pounds of walleye fingerlings into Lobster Lake. The fingerlings were in the 5 to 6 inch range which equals about 25 to the pound. This calculates out to a total of about 10,000 fingerlings. They appeared to be of excellent quality. Boseks cut a hole approximately four foot square in the ice and the fish were carefully put into the hole. This is the first time that the fingerlings have been put into the lake after ice is on the lake. Statistics show that the survival rate is much higher at this time of the year as the activity of predator fish is much less. These fish were purchase by the Lobster Lake Association from money received from Muskies Inc, special walleye donations and from member dues.
